SM Benefits & Pensions:
HRPA Toronto - Feb 3rd
Posted by: Kevin McFadden
I had the good fortune to present to 100 HR professionals with benefits and pension responsibilities last week at the HRPA Conference in Toronto. By random survey it appeared approximately 60-70% of the attendees indicated that they had an ASO contract in place with their providers. While these numbers seem to be up from previous years it still concerns me that many of the attendees have not had ASO (Adminstrative Services Only) ie Self Insurance explained to them by their benefits advisors. If you as an employer have over 100 employees an ASO analysis is a MUST. ASO in my opinion is the most effective and efficient method of paying for health and dental benefits (assuming stop loss and out of country insurance provisions are taken) over the long run.
