SM Benefits & Pensions:
Pension XPO - Putting Pensions in Perspective
Posted by: Nancy Page
This XPO our focus was on pension plans, a very timely topic these days with the startling reality that Canadians are not saving enough.
We examined the present day group retirement planning environment as well as how best to design, manage and promote your company-sponsored plan to employees. Target date funds were explained as well as their relevance to perhaps adding these funds to your current investment line-up. With the focus on "best practices" or adhering to Capital Accumulation Plan (CAP) guidelines, the importance of a thorough plan review was also discussed. Our engaging keynote address gave us an overview of what our neighbours to the south have accomplished with "auto" features to their pension plans, and a glimpse of what is likely to come onto the Canadian scene shortly.
Thanks to all the presenters who provided a wealth of relevant information!
We especially extend our warm thanks to our clients and associates who attended our Pension XPO. Thank you for the feedback and we look forward to seeing you at our next Benefits XPO tentatively scheduled for January 28, 2011.
